Behind the Awards

Inside the Making of the Award

Latina Awards Editorial  ·  February 27, 2026

A sculptural object cast in brass, designed to be held rather than displayed.

The award began as a question about weight. An object that recognizes a decade of work should not feel light in the hand.

The final form is a single ascending gesture in polished brass, finished by hand so that no two pieces catch light identically.

Weight was the first design decision. Everything followed it.

It is designed to be held before it is displayed.
